A Visit to the ER...

"I'm feeling much better now!" We had quite the eventful afternoon yesterday! Murphy woke up from his nap early yesterday and was hysterical and straining like his belly hurt. He normally doesn't cry too much, so I knew something was not right. I tried to calm him down for about an hour and nothing worked! I knew something was up when he refused juice and food. Of course by this time the doctor's office had closed, so we picked Walker up from working out and we were off to the ER at Children's. By the time we got there he had worked himself up into such a frenzy that his breathing had become irregular. Ultimately, it turned out to be an ear infection with a high fever, but it took lots of uncomfortable tests to make sure. The hardest part was having to hold him down while he was being x-rayed. They had to strap his little legs to the table. As most of you know, watching your child in pain is the worst feeling for a parent. Walker and I both said that it was by far the hardest thing we have ever done. Luckily, all is well now and in comparison to other things, it was really a minor incident. It is so hard because babies can't tell you what is wrong. The staff at the hospital was wonderful so we were at ease once we got him settled. Thanks to everyone who has sent well wishes our way!

I am glad he is feeling better!! Being one that had many ear infections as a kid I can attest to how bad they hurt. I am happy for you all that it was just an ear infection and nothing more!!!

Meg, I'm so sorry ya'll had to go through that! We've been through emergency room trips and hospital stays with our kids. You are right - it is so hard as a parent to feel so helpless. I'm SO GLAD that Murphy's trouble was nothing more than an ear infection. Give him a kiss and hug for me.
